Using iCloud on Your iPad
iCloud helps you keep all your important stuff safe and lets you see it on all your devices. It's like having a magic box in the sky where all your photos, notes, and other things are stored!
What is iCloud?
iCloud is like a special folder that lives on the internet instead of just on your iPad. Anything you put in iCloud can be seen on a regular computer using a website.
Free Storage!
Apple gives you 5GB of free iCloud storage. That's enough space for lots of notes, contacts, and some photos. If you need more space, consult the Parish Clerk/Council who can buy more space for a small monthly fee.
Setting Up iCloud
1
Open Settings
Tap the Settings app on your iPad's home screen.
2
Tap Your Name
At the top of Settings, tap on your name or Apple ID.
3
Tap iCloud
In the menu that appears, tap on "iCloud" to see all iCloud settings.
What Can You Store in iCloud?
- Photos - Save all your pictures and videos in iCloud Photos so you never lose them, even if something happens to your iPad.
- Notes and Reminders - Keep your notes and to-do lists in sync across all your devices.
- Contacts - Save your colleagues, residents and other relevant phone numbers and emails so you always have them.
- Documents - Store documents, drawings, and other files you create in apps.
- Backups - Make a copy of everything on your iPad so you can restore it if needed.
Using iCloud Drive
iCloud Drive is a special part of iCloud where you can store any kind of file, just like a folder on a computer. Here's how to use it:
- Open Files App - Tap the Files app on your iPad. You'll see "iCloud Drive" in the sidebar on the left.
- Creating Folders - Tap the folder icon at the top to create new folders to organize your files.
- Adding Files - To add files, you can drag them in or use the "Share" button in other apps and choose "Save to Files".
- Sharing Files - Tap and hold on a file, then tap "Share" to send it to friends or other apps.
Cool iCloud Trick!
You can access your iCloud files from any computer! Just go to icloud.com in a web browser, sign in with your Apple ID, and you can see all your stuff.
iCloud Photos
iCloud Photos keeps all your pictures and videos safe in the cloud and shows them on all your devices:
- Turn On iCloud Photos - Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > Photos and turn on "iCloud Photos".
- Save Space - Choose "Optimize iPad Storage" to save space on your iPad by keeping smaller versions of photos while the full-size ones stay in iCloud.
iCloud Backups
Make sure you back up your data
- Automatic Backups - Your iPad can automatically make a backup copy of everything when it's charging, connected to Wi-Fi, and locked.
- Turn On Backups - Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup and turn on "iCloud Backup".
- Manual Backup - Tap "Back Up Now" to make a backup right away before installing a new app or making big changes.
With iCloud, you'll never lose your important stuff, and you can see it anywhere! It's like having a copy of everything you care about that follows you wherever you go.
