Use Two Apps at the Same Time!

Did you know you can use more than one app at once on your iPad? It's like having two screens! Here's how:

Split View - Two Apps Side by Side

Use two apps next to each other, like having your homework and calculator open at the same time:

How to Use Two Apps at Once

  • Open your first app
  • Swipe up from the bottom to see your app bar
  • Touch and hold the second app you want
  • Drag it to the left or right side of your screen
  • Now both apps are open together!

Changing How Apps Look

  • Drag the line in the middle to make one app bigger
  • Pull down from the top black bar to change an app
  • Drag all the way to one side to go back to one app
  • Your iPad remembers which apps you used together

Floating App Window

Have a small app float on top of another app, like a calculator floating over your homework:

Making an App Float

  • While using an app, swipe up to see your app bar
  • Drag an app to the middle of your screen
  • The app will float in a small window
  • You can swipe it away and bring it back from the right edge

Using Multiple Floating Apps

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the floating window
  • Stop halfway to see all your floating apps
  • Swipe left or right to switch between them
  • Swipe all the way up to close the app

Cool Trick: Fast App Switching

When an app is floating, you can quickly swipe along the bar at the bottom to switch between your floating apps without opening the menu!
